At eBay, we think about sustainability a bit differently.
We believe small actions can make a big difference in the world. And that's what the eBay Green Team is all about: encouraging and empowering individuals to buy, sell and think green every day. It was started by 40 employees, and today, more than 2,300 employees around the world are eBay Green Team members — promoting green business practices within eBay, volunteering in our communities, and supporting environmental legislation.

All three of our core businesses seize on the efficiencies of the internet, empowering people to do more with less: to shop without driving to the mall, to pay without a paper check, and to connect and communicate without special equipment or unnecessary travel. We believe that increasing business efficiency can also deliver environmental benefits, just in the course of everyday operation.

eBay Inc.'s businesses start from a greener place, but we don't stop there. We are committed to running our business in ways that have less impact on the planet. That's why we've set a goal to reduce our absolute greenhouse gas emissions by 15 percent by 2012, based on our emissions in 2008.
We're committed to running our business in ways that have less impact on the planet.

The eBay Green Team started out as an employee group — just 40 colleagues getting together to talk about how to make eBay a greener company. Today, more than 2,400 employees are members, representing 23 countries around the world.

Whether promoting reuse or eBay's community-based initiatives, we're committed to creating change in communities beyond our own. We believe that our ability to speak to global audiences offers us a unique opportunity to spread positive and actionable messages.
